Swim School Is "Way Cool"

Nicole was recently asked if she could teach swimming lessons to an adorable little preschooler.  I know... whaaaaaaat? We Romneys can swim, but we're not exactly known as having exceptionally spectacular swim skills.  It turns out the little guy just needs some one on one water time a few days a week, so Nicole dove right in and accepted the offer!

They have been doing the usual holding on to the side of the pool and kicking, practicing treading water, and he can even swim a short distance to get to her.

But what they really like to do is jump in

I'm hoping they'll come up soon!

Phew - they made it!

But of course her little student had a better idea. . .

You may think he was super brave and jumped in himself. . .

No, he gave Nicole his bestest little grin and got her to jump in with him on her shoulders!!!

Of course she did it, because they have a little mutual admiration thing going.  He told his dad that he has a new swim teacher named "way cool" (awesome! sounds like Nicole right:), and that she is "weally pwetty."

I know, adorable!

Nicole Goes To College. . .For Just A Few Days (whew!)

Nicole (middle) with Rachel and Tara in their dorm room
This summer has seen the Romney kids all attending camp after camp after camp.  From Cub Scout Twilight Camp to Church Girls' Camp to Football Camp and Volleyball Camp x 3, it's been hard to keep up!  Not to mention that all those sports seasons start next week.  Yikes isn't it only August?  Our last month of summer is filled up.  Ryder will start playing football for the Prosper Pirates and has 4 conditioning practices starting next week.  Harrison is back to playing football for The Prosper Eagles. Nicole has High School volleyball tryouts on Monday and Tuesday, and then begins practicing twice a day for 2-3 hours each session.  By the time school starts she will have played in about 10 matches/tournaments.

Here are some pictures from Nicole's trip to Texas A&M for a team camp with Prosper High.  Also an awesome video she produced of her and her roomies tossing fruit snacks.

I thought their rooms were quite nice.  Back in the day, my dorm room was "well used."

Glad they remembered to wash up!

I'm glad they had so much fun - with fruit snacks!

Watermelon - It's Genetic :)

There's nothing like the summertime flavor of the perfectly ripened juicy watermelon, and we have been enjoying our share this summer.  My boys - especially Ryder - love to pick out the watermelon, and so far they have been doing a great job!

This passion for watermelon runs in the family.  Their Grandpa Romney grew up working in the family business "Romney Produce Company" and they had access to truckloads of watermelon.  Grandpa Romney enjoyed eating a good watermelon, and did his fair share of watermelon bombing - tossing watermelons out of the back of a pickup truck and watching them explode on the pavement!

Their Grandpa Muffett is a watermelon connoisseur.  Able to pick the very best melon out of a pile of thousands. His watermelon knocking technique is pitch perfect!!

So as you can see, this love of watermelons just comes naturally!  And my boys tell me that watermelons these days have only one downfall - no seeds to spit!!
